Plastic Display LG-based e-paper went into production

LG Display Company today announced the mass production of the world's first plastic displays based on electronic paper (Rlastic Electronic Paper Display, EPD). EPD-plastic displays will primarily be used in the manufacture of devices for reading electronic books. The display has a diagonal of 6 inches and the screen resolution XGA (1024 x 768 pixels).

LG Display promises that EPD-screens for ease of use will be comparable with the press. The high degree of flexibility was achieved by a plastic substrate, the thickness of a protective film for the mobile phone screen. The angle of the display is bent 40 degrees, weight - 14 grams and a thickness equal to 0.7 millimeters, which is three times less than the thickness of the glass panels on the market today. EPD-LG displays a high degree of protection from bumps and bruises. After falling from a height of 1.5 meters on the prototype, there was no damage.
