In the United States Army was a walking vehicle

As it became known in the sixties of the XX century the U.S. Army Engineers in collaboration with General Electric built a four-legged vehicle, which cross was significantly higher than that of traditional SUVs. The mechanism known as "walking truck" or Cybernetic Anthropomorphic Machine CAM (Cybernetic Anthropomorphous Machine).

The experimental vehicle came to light in 1965, it featured an impressive technical performance: 3.4-meter leg CAM accelerated to 56 km / h The car was just one problem. The driver had to constantly monitor the movement of each leg, or simply rearrange them manually. As it turned out, this is a very serious psychological stress, the average person can withstand this challenge is not more than 15 minutes. The rest of CAM was perfect. With capacity of 250 kg, it is really different high traffic, as could step over the obstacles that can neither bypass nor move. However, the budget was cut, and was born just one copy of this machine.
