Railways will launch high-speed Talgo train to the end of 2012

JSC "Russian Railways" plans to start operation of the Spanish Talgo high-speed trains with automatic gauge changing on the routes to European capitals before the end of 2012, said Tuesday the president of Railways Vladimir Yakunin.

"By June we should get the first Talgo trains to carry out certification. He also said that Railways are considering the issues for the modernization of infrastructure in several European countries.

The technology, developed by Spanish company Talgo, allows to operate the rolling stock in international traffic on the roads of the Russian gauge (1520 mm) and European (1435) standards in both passenger and in freight traffic.
