London 2012 - Competition in urban

The authors of the art agency The July 16 continue to explore the world of experience to create hybrid public spaces. At this time the pen is taken Elizabethan Park - the main new thing being prepared for the Olympics in London and part amazing mix of eco-park and open-air gallery.

On the eve of the Summer Olympic Games in London, architects and designers from around the world compete in the creativity and skill. Once the committee has announced that the upcoming Games will be held under the auspices of urbanization and the arts, designers have turned six months in the Olympic Village the largest urban park in Europe.

Taking a walk in the park you can not get to the stadium. How can you go past a giant sculpture of Anish Kapoor, and did not climb to the top of the 120-meter tower? Competitions can watch on TV, but to get on a modern Tower of Babel can not every day. According to one version, with the help of this facility sculptor conceived to reach the heavens, as in the myth of Babel. And if to reach heaven, it does not, then at least the record will be broken the Eiffel Tower.

Art objects, scattered over a wide pyatisotakrovoy the park, like the Sirens, who lured travelers with its singing. Installation is really flirting with the visitor, but the singing gave way to modern technology and computer programming. Thus, the bridge that connects the car park to the stadium, reacting to every step of the passer-by measuring its speed and pulse. And then shows how he moves slowly in comparison with a particular athlete - like teasing, "try and overtake!". Beat does not work, because the attention this time catches a giant plasma screen that comes up from the reservoir, broadcasting or film competition. But also be difficult: the side adjusts the 9-meter steel inscription «RUN».

And here is the first athlete with medals, though not with gold, and bronze: a series of nine branched trees are "dressed" in a bronze ring weighing half a ton each. Perhaps the first designers set out to reproduce the traditional composition of the five Olympic rings. But playing with symbolism, they hung on the trees as much as nine rings, giving new meaning to the installation, at each hoop is engraved in the history of one of nine local halls.

If visitors to the park area will be small, thoughtful designers offer to get ... in the heavens. "Sky Bridge" by design students Oscar Bauer and Nazareno creatinine has to go through all kinds of clouds, known inhabitants of London. Just a little bit, and the air bridge to actually take off and take the visitor to the top of Mount Olympus, the legendary Olympic athletes.

After going down the same down to earth you can finally get up to the Olympic stadiums. But how did they find? Instead of the usual circular structures around the amphitheater, a futuristic palaces, more like spaceships. Indeed, during the construction sites are not the architects focused on sports. For example, the star architect Water Stadium - Zaha Hadid - curved roof of the building, giving it the shape of the wave is gathering pace.

If art objects lodged in the park on a regular basis, the sports stadiums in their most majestic form can be seen only during the games. Most of the buildings will be dismantled and sold abroad, while others will undergo renovation. Without a stadium full life heal Park Eco-Zone, designed for relaxation. A holiday here will be royalty - "Elizabethan Park" was a gift to the pearl anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II, which she celebrated recently.
